Byrnesie II

Those of you who aren't DBacks fans may not get this. And maybe the DBacks fans out there will think I'm crazy for thinking so, but doesn't Case look like Eric Byrnes?

We call him Byrnesie (pron. Burnsie, among other nicknames), and today he referred to himself as Byrnesie too. Maybe we have a future MLB player in our family? Or maybe we could pimp him to a local casino to do impersonations.

Check out the simliarities here...

Tahoe, barf and some pictures

Jarad and I returned on Friday from a nice little getaway to Lake Tahoe. We spent four days just playing, hiking, talking, relaxing. It was great. If you've never been to Lake Tahoe, I would totally recommend it as a getaway! But maybe when it's a teensy bit warmer. They were having the same cold/rain snap as the rest of the West, so it was in the 40s the entire week and intermittently rainy (like my weatherwoman terminology?), but it gave us ample opportunity to use all our old outdoor gear from our Alaska days. Our fleeces and rain shells don't get much use in Arizona. We did a few hikes where we saw no other people, and the cloud cover made for some great photography. I kept thinking "this would be a great vacation with kids!" Total mom, right?

Anyway, a HUGE shout out and THANKS to my niece Jessica and her little guy Ethan for coming down to stay with our chitlins for the week. The kids had so much fun with their little cousin (and their big cousin too), and I hope the week with five kids under seven didn't make her change her mind about wanting more kids! Also, a big thanks goes out to her husband Eric, whom she and Ethan abandoned for the week. Thanks for letting them come down Eric!

While Jess and Ethan were here Fisher and Teslin both came down with a nasty stomach bug, so she got a little more than she bargained for! Since they left on Saturday morning, Jarad, Case and I have all had it. It's a brutal one, so I'm hoping she and Ethan didn't catch it... Now it's back to reality (and tons of laundry).

Here are a few pics from the getaway...

This one made me laugh -- it's Fisher holding his barf bowl. But he's wearing a Hurley shirt -- get it? HURL-ey? ha ha!!
